It is a cable card the only way to make my Media Center can record HD TV? If so, how is that so rare?
I love Media Centers. But the tuners all I can find only the tape air HD broadcasts. I can not get very good reception in my emissions of air so I want a dual tuner that can record high-definition broadcasts. I thought the only way to do this was through the cable cards. But these do not seem to be very popular. What am I missing?
You are not missing anything, unfortunately, the only way to record OTA HD is not a team with CableCARD. There is an external box-to-square allows you to record directly from a cable through a QAM tuner. What you can receive depends on what your cable provider has in its cable in the clear. I have not seen a lot of reports on how well it works with MCE, but I have not seen any nor negative. As with CableCARD TVs, cable companies do not go out of way CableCARD push. One reason is that the current CableCARD does not support things like pay per view, which means lost income. CableCARD PCs are not very popular.
