I'm having trouble getting the e-brake cable clamps (94 Ford Mustang). Seems to be very tight?

When I look in the manual shows an image that is easy to remove the cable. The end of my e-brake cable on both sizes is so tight against the pad as possible. Please respond ASAP. I have to get this car back together Monday.
