How I can mount a satellite dish on the side of my house (vinyl siding)?

I have a satellite dish I want to put above and wonder exactly what kind of hardware should I use to mount on the side of my house. I have vinyl siding. The plate has the typical flat foot surface-type in the base itself, has several screw holes and at various positions, so I think you just need to find out what kind of bolts and screws that need to use. Basically, what is under the vinyl siding of my house? Should it be a brick layer suppose? What exact steps should I take? Drill a pilot hole drill masonry, what type of screw, etc? General suggestions are also useful. Thank you.
