Can anyone explain what a CATV drop amplifier hooks?

Living in an apartment, not sure I'm making the sign of Full cable. In one room, the television signal not have a good picture and sound was a bit confusing. I started making external TV as a clock radio external speaker with an integrated antenna in the power cord. Improving the reception is much better. Do I think the connection of the input cable television, television connection to the clock radio amplifies the signal by the antennas, now would be tied to a digital signal? If you can figure this out for me would be greatly appreciated.

If only trying to get local channels, then the cable connection is going to protect their local TV signals reaching your TV correctly … You want to disconnect the cable from your TV and buy a desktop antenna to get their local TV channels.
