Cable / Satellite input question Directv keeps breaking?

Here goes. Sorry if a bit long. Back in February, I have a HD DVR from DIRECTV. There are two satellite inputs that come directly from the multi-switch on the ceiling. This allows you to watch one program while recording another. When the technician came to install it, and there was a line of entry into the room since I was a TV in the room already. All I had to do was put in a second line from the switch. To this end, he realized that he had co-ax going to another room where there was no television. The use of a connector cable ran through the outer wall House in the room where I needed the second signal. Anyway, as part of its installation, showed me everything was working. Both he and an I forgot to check that the two satellite inputs were working. I did not realize until it was that the picture was only receive the signal. I realized that the line one was not working had a short right on the F connector which came in the box. The line was replaced
