It sounds like something related to solar heat gain. If the dish is morning sun but shade the rest of the day (or vice versa), then this could be the explanation. Thermal expansion / contraction of the mountain sometimes may be sufficient to launch its software monitoring off, especially if you are on the edge of the signal.
