Rigid wing hang gliders. Pipe or the blade?
I'm designing a rigid delta wing has 2 options for the wings. Would it be better to bend tube aluminum to get the right shape and then with steel wire reinforcement or cut sheets to the desired shape and are reinforced with the pipes?. Design and build one from scratch is a great project, even for an experienced engineer. There are a number of issues. The first is the structural strength. Next is stability. Without good knowledge of various specialized skills, they have little chance of making a workable design. We not only risk killing uneccessarily going to waste your time doing something that will not work. Many homebuilt designs are reasonably safe. You obviously is at hand tools, maybe you can choose one and change it, or you can get a project that is partly done and finish it. Use the manufacturer's plan is just to maximize your chance of survival.
