Xbox Live and Internet via satellite.?
The speed is 1.4 mbps bursts think … I wondered if satellite internet would be sufficiently fast enough to play on Xbox Live. I would like to know before i it. I have no capacity in my area for any other dial-up Internet, besides u.
In the case of satellites through Widblue, Hughes, Starband, etc will have higher latency to work properly. The ping probably will be around 800-2000 +. As someone mentioned about streaming …. have no idea what they are talking about. Whether commonplace or not does not matter, is the latency caused by distance between the satellite and earth that causes the problems. Streaming content is literally nothing to do with it, and you can stream content (Internet radio, etc) into any Internet connection, including dial-up. Simply could not have enough bandwidth to allow it to function properly. If you have a local wireless provider may or may not work correctly. Depends on the technology, the line of sight, traffic, distance, again travel, etc. Some work well, with a decent ping, while others work for the game terrible.
