Is there such thing as a signal amplifier for digital TV?
I just bought a new digital TV, so there is no converter box and only one of the digital channels come in, the rest are just blank. I know it's because I live far from the transmitters in Chicago. Does anyone know if there is an amp you can use for a tv only?
What are you using for an antenna? Before buying any RF amplification should read articles by Peter Putman and check the reference AntennaWeb, which I've posted links below. On the issue of amplification of RF signals from DTV: If you are using an antenna outdoor land (and hopefully you), then I recommend you take a look at the high-performance, ultra low noise preamplifier type 9254 HDTV (with Type 9252 * resistant in the open-mount cabinet top) and Type 9255 power combo Communications Research rather than buying your standard, run-of-the-mill RF amplifier line or a distribution amplifier. * (If using an indoor antenna simply omit waterproof box / top of bad weather.) Low noise RF (Booster) amplifier must be located relatively close to the antenna elements to minimize noise amplification and interference of RF, Hence the pole mounted boxes. It is important to note that the use of RF booster amplifiers can be a "double-edged sword" especially if you live an above average electromagnetically noisy environment. You may want to upgrade your antenna. Again, if you are using a terrestrial antenna outdoor then you should take a look at the various off-air antennas from terrestrial digital terrestrial TV / Antennas Direct and other manufacturers. The optimal combination of pre / amplifier and the antenna off the air, along with a good quality of the antenna rotor system, you must provide a noticeable improvement in performance.
